CONCURSO PÚBLICO
ESCOLA DE HOTELARIA DE FÁTIMA
YEAR 2014
AREA 8,635m2
LOCATION Fatima, Ourém, Portugal
This project, dated 2014, was developed in response to a public architecture and engineering competition for the construction of the Hospitality Vocational School of Fátima.
The site, located in a non-urbanized area of Fátima, was characterized by the absence of significant vegetation and by a generous depression at its center.
The entire proposal was developed around this natural depression, which was transformed into a lake/retention basin.
Thus, the buildings were arranged radially around the lake, in semi-autonomous volumes that accommodated all the functions required by the competition program.
This large body of water was designed to enhance the natural character of the site and included a 30-meter-high geyser, creating a visual connection with the Basilica and the Sanctuary grounds. At the same time, it functioned as a retention basin to prevent flooding of the surrounding land, provided irrigation for orchards, and contributed to the preservation of existing flora and fauna.
Competition result: excluded due to missing administrative document.
