LOCATION Abrantes, Portugal
The unique character of the site, both in its physical and human dimensions, led us to a solution that integrates the various proposed functions into a cohesive project, defined by a bilateral dialogue between interior and exterior spaces.
Thus, the programmatic and functional nature of the building was approached through an organizational concept that explores the relationship between “solids and voids,” following a sculptural logic in which masses are subtracted from a large parallelepiped volume to create spaces that invite humanized circulation and experience.
It was in this harmonization of contrasts that we found the foundation to sketch subtle relationships of light and shadow, allowing one to experience both the solidity and the lightness with which the construction settles into the terrain.
In summary, our proposal seeks to place people at the center of the solution, to bring generations together, and — most importantly — to create an inclusive space where everyone can belong.
