The present project focuses on the gated community “Horizon”, composed of six terraced houses.

 

The site under study is located within a rural landscape, punctuated by some scattered houses and small developments in the nearby surroundings.

 

The location proved to be a determining factor in the design of the project, benefiting from an excellent balance between the rural environment and the proximity to various points of interest:

 

10 minutes by car – Santa Cruz beaches;

10 minutes by car – Torres Vedras;

45 minutes by car – Lisbon

 

Five of the six houses have an identical configuration, while the one located furthest to the East presents slight differences, namely a larger area and the inclusion of a private swimming pool. All the houses share the same solar orientation and follow a common spatial organization, distributed over two floors.

 

Although it is a gated community, the aim was to ensure the privacy and individual comfort of each dwelling. To this end, each house has an interior patio sheltered from the wind, as well as a private outdoor terrace.

 

Each house was designed with a concept of functional flexibility, allowing its spaces to adapt to different scenarios and residents’ needs. This versatility not only promotes greater comfort and suitability to contemporary lifestyles, but also ensures increased longevity of the homes, as they can evolve and adapt over time to changes in the preferences and circumstances of their users.
